Why Become A Volunteer?

Why not?

Virginia NRCS Earth Team volunteers have proven to be a tremendous asset to the NRCS workforce.  Since the Earth Team was introduced in Virginia, more than 15 volunteers have come on board as NRCSers.

Just in case, you want proof, here it is!  NRCS' own Tom Smith, began working for the Earth Team in 1983.  His duties included assisting the District Conservationist and technician with survey conservation practices on the following: animal waste pits, pipelines, watering troughs, reservoirs, ponds and Stewarts-Lovil Flood control dam.  He reduced notes in the field books and assisted with design plotting.  Now he is a District Conservationist in Tazewell helping landowners improve water quality and reduce soil erosion on their lands.
